Bayern Munich looking to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane next summer has been a regular topic of discussion in the German media over the past few months.

Earlier this month, the Bundesliga winners’ chief, Hasan Salihamidžić, insisted he has not held talks with the striker or his camp so far.

Sky Deutschland relayed Salihamidžić’s comments, but they still say the Tottenham star is a serious option for the Bavarian club after this season.

This is now backed up by SportBild, who explain the England international can be a ‘very hot’ topic at the Allianz Arena in 2023, if he decides against signing a new contract at Spurs.

The 29-year-old’s current deal runs down in 2024 and in the event he refuses to sign an extension at Tottenham, then Bayern would make an offer. It’s said the frontman’s agent has ‘already been assured’ of this.

Having invested on Sadio Mané and Matthijs de Ligt in the summer window, signing Kane would be a ‘next transfer coup’ for Bayern. He would replace Robert Lewandowski at the club, with Mané currently struggling to fill that void left by the Pole’s departure.

Meanwhile, former Bayern star Owen Hargreaves was quizzed about the rumours linking the Spurs player to the German champions.

“I’m not a big fan of rumours. But surely every team in Europe would love to have a Harry Kane on their team. However, I think he’s already signed to a top club at Tottenham Hotspur and with Antonio Conte as well. He still has a really good coach,” Hargreaves told RAN.

“I also think he wants to break all the records in the Premier League – and he has every opportunity to do so. However, it’s obviously the job of a top club like Bayern to ask about Kane. But he belongs to Tottenham and I find it hard to imagine him not playing in London next year.”
