The Gerrard Deulofeo and AC Milan rumour continues to fall through trap doors.
Just as it’s pushed back on stage, another gap appears and… whoosh, it seems ridiculously unlikely again.
However, the will is said to be there, from both player and potential signing club, and strange things happen in the transfer window.
It all kicked off towards the end of last week and then on Saturday, Gazzetta dello Sport reported Milan would face problems. They want a loan and it was explained the Pozzo family simply don’t do loans.
Then on Sunday they talked up the player’s desire for a return to Milan, and on Monday Calciomercato explained the Spaniard wants the transfer, but doesn’t want to upset Watford.
A valuation of €30m was put on the deal in the same report.
On Monday evening, TMW back up Watford asking for that ‘high’ figure, and say Milan only value Deulofeu at half of that.
It’s explained the Hornets ace isn’t even Milan’s first choice. They’ve made an attempt for Rennes’ Ismaïla Sarr, but the French club value him at €40m… and Milan have gone for €20m.
The situation is verging on comedy.
