Reports from the English media this weekend said Newcastle United would make an attempt for the Benfica star Rafa Silva in the summer.
It’s been claimed that the Magpies would take advantage of the transfer market chaos and offer only €17m to sign the winger from the Eagles.
The Portuguese press has been covering these claims today, and they completely disagree with what has been said regarding these numbers.
Record has a story saying Benfica have no intention of selling Rafa Silva, and would only do that in case his €80m release clause is triggered. It’s also said that the 26-year-old is willing to finish his career at the Lisbon side.
Still, things don’t have to be as extreme as presented. Earlier today, Sport Witness heard from sources that Benfica could even accept an offer for Rafa Silva, but for a reasonable amount.
It’s believed that a bid of around €30m would be enough to take the player, as the Premier League continues to be an attractive destination for him. However, Newcastle’s talks for his signing haven’t been confirmed by any sources.
