The future of Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang continues to be discussed by the biggest sport outlets in Europe.
This morning, we’d already covered a story from Sport which said the striker has asked to leave the Gunners, while he dreams of a move to Barcelona.
Now it’s time for France Football to bring their take on the situation, commenting on the ‘strong position’ the player has this summer.
Aubameyang’s contract with Arsenal expires in 2021, and in case he continues to reject a renewal, then the Gunners will feel forced to sell him this year to avoid losing him for free.
France Football has a long list of clubs who’ve been linked to the player. It all starts with Barcelona, with the rumours getting stronger since Aubameyang’s father bought a house in the Catalan capital.
Then there’s also Real Madrid, with Zinedine Zidane looking for an option to compete with and back-up Karim Benzema. Meanwhile, Inter Milan are also said to be in the race.
France Football says Arsenal wouldn’t like to lose money on the player, after spending €64m to sign him from Borussia Dortmund in 2018. However, an unnamed agent consulted by them says Aubameyang should be worth less these days.
“On the market, a frantic goalscorer like Aubameyang is valued at €50m for the last year of the contract. But I think Arsenal will do everything to keep him. I rather see them selling Lacazette and taking on another major attacker.”
Interestingly, even though Paris Saint Germain got mentioned by Sport today, France Football completely ignore the French side.
