Napoli are eyeing up a move for Everton defender Yerry Mina as they look for a replacement for Kostas Manolas.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who say the Everton man is an option after the Greek defender secured a return to his homeland.
Manolas is set to return to Greece with Olympiacos on January 3rd, a deal that was close to happening in the summer but has now been finalised for January instead.
That has left a hole that will have to be filled as Napoli only have three fit centre-backs, and Kalidou Koulibaly is set to be at the African Cup of Nations if that goes through in January.
Aurelio de Laurentiis is working on moves already and is ‘ready for an investment’ to give manager Luciano Spalletti what he needs.
There are ‘many names’ in director of football Cristiano Giuntoli’s notebook, and one of them is Everton’s Mina.
The belief is that the Toffees are ‘unlikely’ to let him leave, and to get him, Napoli would have to pay a ‘significant sum’ of at least €20m.
That is why they are thinking of a loan with a right of redemption at the end of it, although Everton ‘will hardly accept’ this condition.
One important factor could be David Ospina, though, as he plays with Mina for Colombia and might be able to convince him on the move.
Either way, it seems Napoli are considering Mina as an addition, but they will have to work on things with Everton if they are to get anything over the line.
