Among the many rumours regarding the future of Everton star James Rodriguez, we now see him being linked to another of his former sides.
Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã reported at the weekend that Porto are currently trying to bring him back to the club this summer.
The outlet says the Dragons are ‘already working on the process’, trying to conclude it ‘as fast as possible’, as agent Jorge Mendes could have a ‘decisive role’ in the operation.
It’s claimed that Rodriguez has already been informed by Everton manager Rafa Benitez that he’s not part of his plans and should look for a new club. Now Porto try to find a way of getting to an agreement with the Toffees, since there’s still one year left on his contract.
Correio da Manhã doesn’t say how much Porto are willing to play for the transfer. They make it sound like Mendes, who’s done several deals with the Dragons in recent years, will work on the issue and try to get the best deal possible.
This isn’t the first time James Rodriguez has been linked with a return to Porto this summer. Last month, newspaper O Jogo had a story claiming the midfielder has ‘never hidden’ the desire to return to the Dragons.
That story, however, pointed out that it’d be difficult to sign him this summer, especially because of his big salary at Goodison Park.
