With Wolverhampton Wanderers splashing the cash on both Fábio Silva and, eventually, Vítor Ferreira, it’s understandable they might be wary about paying any money for Faouzi Ghoulam.
The Algeria international continues to be linked with a move to Molineux, but it seems Wolves are reluctant to spend a penny in transfer fee on him.
His injury status over the past couple of years makes that justifiable, and with little to no future for him at Napoli, an exit is needed.
The easiest way to do that would be to terminate his contract with the Serie A side, and that’s what he’s working towards.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who state Napoli’s aim is to ‘find the right agreement with Jorge Mendes, his agent, to resolve the very rich contract that, in the last season, has earned Faouzi about €12m in salary and bonuses’.
This is to them ‘leave him free’ to go ‘towards Wolverhampton’, where Nuno Espírito Santo will likely place him in direct competition with Jonny Otto once the Spaniard is back from his knee injury.
