Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo today reports Real Sociedad’s ‘total agreement’ with Arsenal left-back Nacho Monreal.
They say the 33-year-old is looking forward to a return to his home country, since that’s where he wants to retire when the time comes.
However, Real Sociedad still need to find a deal with the Gunners. Mundo Deportivo make it clear the La Liga side are not keen on spending much on this signing, particularly because of Monreal’s age.
And although it’s not claimed how much Arsenal are demanding, the outlet sounds very optimistic about a deal, saying it could be done ‘in the next few hours’.
Monreal has a two-year contract waiting for him at Real Sociedad, with an option for a further one. For one year, he’s set to make the same amount he does at Arsenal, and then he will have to take a pay-cut.
Mundo Deportivo says the relationship between Arsenal and Real Sociedad has been very good since Carlos Vela’s transfer to the Spanish side. That could make things easier.
