Ajax have been urged to sell Lisandro Martinez to Arsenal this summer if the Gunners are willing to spend €50m.
That’s according to journalist Martijn Krabbendam, who believes it would be criminal not to sell the player for that price.
Arsenal are spending big to rebuild Mikel Arteta’s squad this summer, with Fabio Vieira, Matt Turner and Marquinhos already signed, but more arrivals expected.
Ajax defender Martinez is seemingly the next man on their list, and numerous reports have made it clear they are trying to get a deal over the line.
Indeed, it was claimed this week that the Gunners had made a second bid to sign the Argentine, proposing a deal worth around €40m.
That was not enough to convince the Dutch giants, who are seemingly looking for a package worth €50m to let the defender go, having already lost several stars this summer.
Whether Arsenal are willing to pay as much remains to be seen, but Krabbendam believes Ajax should be biting their hands off.
“Martinez is not someone of whom you think: he is indispensable,” Voetbal Primeur report him saying.
“Forty to fifty million they want. Fifty million for Martínez, that’s almost a crime if you don’t do it, isn’t it?
“You have an illustrious youth academy; then you get one out of it. Forty to fifty million euros: you have to do that immediately.”
