Catalan newspaper Sport claim their sworn enemy Real Madrid, and the club’s president Florentino Perez, are set to ‘throw in the towel’ on signing Dele Alli from Tottenham Hotspur.
Sport had Dele Alli on the front cover of their Monday edition, claiming he’s a Barcelona target, and it was also mentioned Real Madrid are keen.
Well, within 24 hours, it’s all over for Madrid and the Tottenham star, but Alli ‘isn’t a priority’ in the club’s plans. It’s felt Isco and Marco Asensio cover that role just fine.
Therefore, going into a stressful battle with Daniel Levy and Spurs isn’t something Madrid current have on the agenda with regards to Alli.
In reality, Real Madrid almost certainly have no towel to throw in. There would have been no point starting the plan given they already knew Isco and Asensio are at the club, and didn’t need Sport to remind them.
Alli to Real Madrid hasn’t really been a thing in the club’s closest press, and it seems Catalan newspaper Sport can’t even be bothered carrying it on themselves.
How long before they also rule Barcelona out of the imaginary Tottenham race?
