A couple of months after Ezequiel Schelotto left Sporting to join Brighton and Hove Albion, one of his best mates is now also leaving the Lisbon side.

As reported by the Portuguese press in the past few days, Bryan Ruiz is set to finish his contract with Sporting and go somewhere else. The former Fulham player had been important in the past few seasons, but isn’t having a great year.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola reveals that both players were shown the door by manager Jorge Jesus for the exactly same reason.

It’s claimed that by the end of the last season, Schelotto and Ruiz showed up at a training session without wearing shinpads, and were warned by the boss about it.

But they did the same thing the day after, and that’s when Jesus thought things went over the top, deciding that none of the players would be in this plans for this season.

Schelotto had recently signed a new contract, but was sold to Brighton in a €3m deal. And Ruiz hasn’t played for Sporting since then.

On Sunday, Schelotto wrote a big message for Bryan Ruiz talking about all the hard times he went through and congratulating him for Costa Rica’s World Cup spot. A Bola believes it has a lot to do to what happened to them during the past months.

Sporting really are an entertaining club.
