Southampton winger Mohamed Elyounoussi has drawn interest from a Serie A club, according to reports from the Italian media today.
It’s Calcio Mercato who features a story saying Sassuolo are making plans for the January transfer window, as they are about to lose Jeremy Boga to Atalanta in a €22m deal.
With 50% of the transfer going to his former club Chelsea, the Neroverdi will need a cheap replacement for their star, and that’s where Elyounoussi comes in.
The outlet writes that with the winger’s contract expiring in 2023, that could favour Sassuolo in talks with Southampton, as the Italian club hope for a negotiation of ‘low cost’.
Elyounoussi has five goals and two assists in 15 appearances for the Saints this season, and Calcio Mercato highlights the important goal scored by him in the match against West Ham United on Sunday.
He’s currently valued by Transfermarkt at €10m, and according to the report, that’s about how much Sassuolo are expecting to spend on a replacement for Boga.
