Turkish newspaper Yeni Asir report Besiktas are interested in signing Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Black Eagles are in the market for a goalkeeper after recently parting ways with Liverpool’s Loris Karius, and Yeni Asir report signing Darlow could be a real possibility.
Besiktas chose not to redeem Karius following his two year loan spell in Istanbul, after a string of issues including a row over unpaid wages.
Darlow is said to be looking for a fresh challenge after spending the past couple of seasons as back up to Newcastle United’s first-choice goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.
His profile suits Besiktas’ transfer strategy for next season as the Turkish side are looking at signing players on free transfers. Darlow’s contract with the Magpies will expire at the end of this month.
Besiktas have been linked with other Premier League goalkeepers in recent months, including Burnley’s Joe Hart and Manchester City’s Claudio Bravo.
Darlow has made five appearances for Steve Bruce’s side this season, which all came in the cup competitions.
