Crystal Palace’s Vicente Guaita is on the front page of today’s Mundo Deportivo, with ‘OPTION GUAITA’ written in bold.
Real Sociedad have identified the Eagles goalkeeper as a target and ‘study’ the option to sign the 34-year-old.
It’s claimed La Real have asked about the Spaniard’s situation, to ‘incorporate him immediately’ or sign him in the summer, when his contract at Selhurst Park expires.
The La Liga side have Álex Remiro as their only recognised keeper as Miguel Ángel Moyá is recovering from injury.
Hence, they are looking in the market for a new custodian and have now set their sights on Guaita. He joined the Premier League side from Getafe in the winter 2018 market.
Prior to his arrival in England, the San Sebastian based club wanted to sign the keeper. Guaita was in favour of arriving at Anoeta, but there was no agreement with Getafe for his transfer.
Any approach from Real Sociedad now for Roy Hodgson’s man will see them face competition from two unknown clubs, including one from La Liga. These unknown suitors are also considering taking the ex-Valencia man in the coming days or in the summer.
Should Guaita end up leaving Palace before the window closes on Monday, the English club will look at other options to strengthen the same position.
Mundo adds that in any case, Real Sociedad will have to negotiate with Crystal Palace to take their player in the winter market. Otherwise, they must wait until the end of the season to take Guaita on a free transfer.
