Inter Milan have long been chasing Olivier Giroud whose contract at Chelsea runs down after this season.
According to FcInterNews, Lyon are ‘strong’ on the striker and have put him on top of their January wish list.
It’s stated a return to Ligue 1 pleases the France international as this will allow him to be a starter and it also improves his chances of making it to Euro 2020 with the world champions.
Rudi Garcia’s side have proposed a 30 month contract worth €12m. Their idea is to pay him €4m for the second half of this season and then pay €4m net per season for the next two years.
It’s claimed the Blues have officially not given a green signal for the transfer and they would need at least €7-8m to sanction Giroud’s sale.
Inter, on the other hand, are monitoring the situation. Antonio Conte has asked his side to sign Giroud since mid-October as he believes he can be an ideal deputy to Romelu Lukaku.
However, for them to sign the former Arsenal man, they will have to sacrifice one of their attackers.
Should that happen, the Serie A side are willing to sign Giroud and offer him an 18 months contract with same figures (worth €12m) proposed by Lyon.
The claims coming from France and Italy have been somewhat contradicting on this, and therefore it largely feels like speculation at this stage.
