Despite claims that Gianpaolo Gasperini isn’t a fan of January transfer window deals, Atalanta are doing their best to sign Jordan James from Birmingham City.
The midfielder has been a target for the Serie A side throughout the past few weeks, and there have been a series of ups and downs in the saga.
Still, Gazzetta dello Sport believe the deal is still ongoing, as they bring the latest, claiming that there is still a ‘difference between request and offer’, as Birmingham City try to maximise their income.
The 19-year-old has impressed greatly at St Andrew’s this season, scoring six goals in 30 appearances for the Championship side, which caught the attention of the Italians.
Gazzetta report that, as things stand, Atalanta have reached €5m + bonuses when it comes to their offer, which Birmingham City currently deem insufficient.
For now, the Blues are asking for €10m, which the Serie A club clearly have yet to reach, even with bonuses added on.
Therefore, we might have to wait a little bit longer before this unblocks itself, with the next week crucial to get a deal over the line.
