After appointing Eddie Newton as their new manager, Trabzonspor have begun the operation to strengthen their squad this summer and they’ve identified Arsenal’s Mohamed Elneny as a target, report Gazete Damga.
The Egyptian, who was loaned to fellow Super Lig club Besiktas last season, has been offered to Trabzonspor, and Gazete Damga claim both sides will hold talks in the coming days.
The Turkish newspaper explain Arsenal are keen to loan the player out once again, as he’s not in Mikel Arteta’s plans for next season.
Trabzonspor are keen to strengthen their midfield for next season given they’ve lost former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel. Stoke City’s Badou Ndiaye could also leave the club after completing his loan spell in Trabzon.
Elneny was a key player for Besiktas last season making 36 appearances in all competitions for the Turkish club. There have been reports he could remain with the Black Eagles for another season, but it would appear they’ve got competition.
He’s under contract at Arsenal until June 2022.
