It’s been rumbling on for quite some time, but Newcastle’s interest in Montpellier’s Ryan Boudebouz is becoming more of a thing these days.
However, if the Geordies really do want to sign the Algerian attacking midfielder in the summer, they’re going to have to pay up, according to Competition.
Putting together an article about the English interest in the player, the website do, however, seem to throw in a bit of their own information about how much the Ligue 1 club want for him.
While English outlets said it could be done cheaper than at first thought, Competition say that simply isn’t the case, with Montpellier fully aware of the Boudebouz’s value, considering he had a hand in 21 of their goals this season.
The midfielder definitely want to leave, but if Newcastle are serious about it, they’re going to have to make an offer of €15m (£13m) ‘and not one penny less’.
Considering Boudebouz is entering his prime at 27, such a fee isn’t outrageous in today’s market, and if he can repeat his performances at St James’ Park, Newcastle would definitely have a good player on their hands.
The attacking midfielder scored 11 goals and picked up 10 assists in 34 appearances in all competitions last season.
