Spanish side Almeria are in talks with Aston Villa over a move for young midfielder Mamadou Sylla.
That’s according to Grada 3, citing Radio Marca Almeria, who say that the Segunda Division side are ‘about to sign’ the 18-year-old.
The website explains that since Turki Al-Sheikh’s arrival at Almeria, it has become ‘commonplace’ for them to bring in younger players with a ‘lot of progression’.
The club like to target players who can develop in future but also offer something from day one, and their latest target is Sylla.
The midfielder is a product of Aston Villa’s youth academy and usually plays as a pivot but can also play in the centre of defence, something that the Spanish side like.
They are also attracted to his ‘well-developed physique’ and the fact he’s left footed, two aspects which make him ‘ever more attractive’ on the market.
All of which has made Almeria push for his signature, and they are now ‘negotiating’ with Aston Villa for him, although there is no mention of whether it’s a permanent transfer or loan deal at this point.
