FutbolArena have claimed Antalyaspor are in discussions with Sunderland forward Jermain Defoe. Their president Ali Safak Ozturk recently said his club are in discussions to bring two more stars to the Antalya, and Sunderland’s Defoe is a prime target.

Antalyaspor currently have Samuel Eto’o and former Tottenham player Sandro and it seems the club want to add to this for next season. FutbolArena report representatives are in discussions with Defoe’s agent and that Antalyaspor are hopeful that they can convince the Sunderland star to move to Turkey.

It’s reported Defoe may be enticed by the idea and the presence of Eto’o could be huge factor in Antalyaspor landing the England international. Following Sunderland’s relegation, interest in Defoe from other clubs is likely to increase, and the club will find it difficult to keep hold of the player.

With the World Cup in Russia next year it’s unlikely Defoe will want to be playing in the Championship next season, and with interest almost certainly widespread, the England international will have a few clubs to choose from.
