Besiktas have made their first move for Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny, submitting an official offer to the Gunners for the Egyptian.
That’s according to NTV Spor, who say a ‘official offer’ has been forwarded to those in charge at the Emirates.
They provide no details about the bid or Besiktas efforts at this moment in time, just that they have ‘started attempts’ to take the player to Turkey.
Elneny finds himself down the pecking order at Arsenal after a summer that has seen competition arrive in the form of Albert Sambi Lokonga.
With Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka also in the squad, that means Elneny is facing being a squad player at best, and Besiktas seemingly want to take advantage of that.
They’ve sent an official offer to Arsenal for the Egyptian midfielder, who fans will remember spent a year on loan with the Turkish club in the 2019/2020 season.
At the moment, details are thin on the ground, but we’ll assume they’re looking at another loan deal, given Turkish sides are always very reluctant to spend their money if they don’t have to.
What NTV Spor do say is that Besiktas plan to add Elneny to their UEFA list if the deal is done today, which would suggest they are confident of getting a deal done quickly.
