Matty Cash signed a new contract with Aston Villa in early April, with his current deal lasting until June 2027.
That means the Premier League side are very much protected against any clubs who want to make a swoop, and unless anything unexpected happens the 24-year-old should be with Villa for the foreseeable future.
This hasn’t stopped rumours, and the right-back has again been linked to Atletico Madrid a few times.
Calciomercato bring claims about Atalanta, explaining there’s expected to be new investment in the club and therefore an attempt for Cash can’t be completely ruled out, even if he’d cost something around €40m.
The Serie A club want a summer ‘revolution’, and that’s where the Aston Villa player comes in.
However, there’s multiple reasons to doubt they stand any chance at all.
Cash didn’t appear to push for a move to Atletico Madrid, so with all due respect to Atalanta he’s hardly going to see them as more tempting than the Spanish champions.
On top of that, Aston Villa have big plans themselves and it’s unlikely €40m would make them wobble too much.
