Another day, another Olivier Giroud to Inter story, and yet this feels like the boost the saga needed.
The other day, Tuttosport tried to dampen the mood, claiming there were doubts about the Chelsea forward’s profile, but Gazzetta dello Sport have set out on a one man mission to make it exciting again.
We know who we would rather believe between the two, and so we’ll let you know what the latter are saying on Thursday.
You see, for them, it just makes sense, and they fully believe that’s also the thinking behind the scenes at Inter, who are desperate to bolster their attack with an extra man in January.
Gazzetta state the Frenchman has the ‘perfect profile’ for what they are looking for, would be rather cheap (€6-7m) and contact has already been made between the club and Giroud’s agent in the past few weeks.
Not only that, but there is ‘absolute satisfaction’ down the player’s end that a move to Inter is just what he needs to keep his club career alive, hopefully impressing enough in the opportunities handed to him by Antonio Conte to keep his chance of a spot at the 2020 Euros alive.
There’s even hope his wages at Chelsea (€8m/year) could be spread over an 18 month contract to try and make it more affordable for the Serie A side.
All the boxes are being ticked, and all that needs to be done now is convince the Stamford Bridge side that selling the 33-year-old is a good idea.
