It appears that despite an attempt from Celtic to sign Aaron Hickey, the Scottish side are going to have to work a lot harder to get their man.

Reports started filtering in over the past few days that Ange Postecoglou’s side had made a €4m bid to try and bring the left-back back to Scotland, with hope the Serie A side would accept it.

Unfortunately for the Parkhead based club, however, they’ve done the exact opposite of that, with Il Resto del Carlino claiming the bid has been refused.

Hickey recently returned to his side following some medical treatment to ‘begin rehabilitation’, and despite having ‘received offers from overseas worth around €4m’, Bologna have ‘said no’.

That’s a pretty clear message for a player the Italian club want to help progress and have faith in, with hope he will be able to play a bigger role than his 11 Serie A appearances last season.

The 19-year-old spent a year with Celtic’s U17s between 2017 and 2018 before returning to Heart of Midlothian, where he was purchased by Bologna for £1.8m in September 2020.
