Valencia are moving quickly to ‘shield’ midfielder Ferran Torres amid interest from Manchester United.
That’s according to Plaza Deportiva, who say United have plans that involve the 19-year-old moving forward.
Torres is enjoying something of a breakthrough season at the Mestalla, having featured 12 times so far, scoring one goal and registering one assist.
His rise has caught the eye of several teams scouting Spain and Manchester United are one of them.
According to Plaza, United have been watching Torres’ Valencia teammate Carlos Soler ‘for a long time’, but it is Torres who has recently caught their attention.
The head of their global scouting network was recently in attendance for the win against Lille in the Champions League, in which Torres bagged a goal in the 4-1 success, and sent positive reports about the Spaniard back to Old Trafford.
They are planning a ‘facelift’ and ‘look for talent in the Spanish league’, and Torres is one they have their eye on.
This interest from Manchester United is something Valencia are more than aware of, and they are rushing to try and get their young starlet signed up to a new deal.
They’ve been in contact with Torres since November and have even ‘revalued’ their offer in light of his recent performances.
They know he has a bright future ahead of him and want to ‘shield’ him to avoid losing out on the cheap to interested parties.
