Greek website Sdna.Gr claim AEK Athens have rejected Wolverhampton Wanderer’s opening offer for their striker Nelson Oliveira.

Yesterday it was reported in the Greek press, and then followed on in England, that the Premier League side are interested in signing the 28 year old, who has been in impressive form for AEK this season.

Sdna report a partner of Jorge Mendes has been in Greece to hold talks with AEK’s hierarchy, including the club’s sporting director Ilija Ivic.

It’s claimed Wolves’ offer was below the player’s release clause, which is said to be €6.5m, and the Greek side have stated they won’t sell him unless this is met.

Wolves are now expected to make an improved offer for the player and Snda say Oliveira would be open to joining the Premier League club. AEK can’t do anything if Wolves’ activate his release clause and they are currently considering replacements, including Al Wahda’s Sergio Araujo.

As part of the agreement when he joined AEK, Oliveira will be entitled to 10 percent of his next transfer fee.
