Tiemoué Bakayoko spent last season on loan at AC Milan from Chelsea and the Serie A side had the option to make the midfielder’s deal permanent.

Despite having a difficult start at the San Siro, the Frenchman ended with 31 appearances in the league that included 26 starts. However, the Rossoneri decided against keeping the Frenchman at the club beyond his loan spell.

Milan have managed only three wins in the first eight league games and the poor start has seen them already change manager.

Calciomercato explains the Italian side seem to be missing the 25-year-old ‘a lot’ and suggest Milan now ‘regret’ not signing Bakayoko on a permanent deal.

He gave ‘great protection’ in midfield, something which they have lacked this season.

The report adds Milan’s decision to not sign the Blues owned player was ‘purely economic’.

In the final days of the European transfer window, Chelsea allowed him to rejoin AS Monaco on a temporary deal, where he has been a regular in the starting lineup this season.
