Bayer Leverkusen are ready to sell Moussa Diaby to Newcastle United in the summer if they receive a ‘fantastic’ offer for the Frenchman.

That’s according to Sky Germany journalist Marlon Irlbacher, who says the German side are ‘ready to talk’ if they receive an offer that convinces them to do so.

Diaby has continued to impress for Bayer Leverkusen this season, with 11 goals and six assists in 31 games in all competitions so far.

He’s picked up where he left off last season, a campaign that saw him scoring 17 and assisting 14 in 42 games in all competitions.

Those numbers had seen him linked with a move to the Premier League, with Newcastle regularly named as admirers since January last year.

They never made a move for him in the summer but have continued to be linked and a report at the beginning of January stated that they see the winger as an absolute dream transfer.

Whether a move happens remains to be seen but Irlbacher reports that if the likes of Newcastle were to come calling, Leverkusen would be open to negotiations.

“Moussa Diaby is the hottest personnel at Bayer Leverkusen next to Florian Wirtz,” he reports.

“His contract is worth €50m until 2025, so there’s really no reason for Bayer 04 to sell him in the coming summer.

“But the fact is, and this is what we hear, that if a fantastic offer comes in, then Bayer 04 is ready to talk and he would not mind making a move to a top European club. A return to Paris is on his mind.”
