As things stand, Leeds United’s transfer window has been a tad quiet.
Yes, we’re less than two weeks in, but the fact players such as Erick Pulgar and Christian Kouamé have been heavily linked with a move to Elland Road suggests Marcelo Bielsa wants reinforcements in the coming weeks.
While the avenue to the latter appears to have dwindled somewhat (but not entirely), the road leading to the midfielder has remained a bit more active, but it could all rest on what happens with an Arsenal player.
According to La Nazione on Tuesday, Pulgar and Lucas Torreira’s destinies could be intertwined, as they state ‘the future of the Chilean regista remains linked to that of’ the Gunners loanee, but it’s a deal that could only happen if he got the green light to leave from Atlético Madrid.
This means that should Fiorentina manage to get a hold of the Arsenal player, Pulgar would be given authorisation to leave, which would be good news for Leeds after all this time as Corriere dello Sport continue to maintain he’s being ‘scrutinised’ by the Premier League club.
It’s also encouraging that Corriere Fiorentino report the Serie A side are ‘ready for a rich investment’ when it comes to Torreira, as they are aware ‘his arrival would raise the general level of the squad’.
So, it appears Pulgar is currently being kept due to squad depth, which is why there’s been no concrete movement from Elland Road for now.
