On Wednesday Catalan newspaper Sport reiterate that Tottenham Hotspur now have a better chance of getting a rebate on their Pau Lopez clause.

Daniel Levy had been looking to talk the €7m figure down, a stance which had understandably angered Espanyol.

In March, as claims emerged that Spurs wanted to pay as little as €3m, a sports director at Espanyol was quoted as saying: “I know that Pau Lopez is happy, we do not hear from Tottenham; They know what they have to do, they have to pay seven million and if so he will not be an Espanyol player. The option will not be lowered.”

That stance is softening, and Daniel Levy’s excellent negotiating skills may have won Screen Shot 2017-04-12 at 11.28.02again. Levy is feared in Spain after making Real Madrid dance to his tune, and this could be another Tottenham win.

Sport say that as long as Espanyol can secure Diego Lopez, they’ll open talks with Tottenham over a lower fee, and also sell Roberto.

That fee probably won’t go as low as €3m, given that Espanyol would get €500k should Tottenham choose not to keep Pau Lopez. The goalkeeper back + €500k is surely more attractive than €3m.
