As you might have seen over the past few days, Milan, in their quest for a new centre-back, have turned their attention to Tottenham’s Japhet Tanganga.
The idea from the Serie A side would be to loan the player until the end of the season, as they look to add a body at the heart of their defence following the severe injury to Simon Kjaer earlier this season.
That’s proven to be far more difficult than first anticipated, but there was hope that Tottenham could be open to a deal, which they are not, at least not on loan.
This is all according to Corriere dello Sport, who explain that ‘the dialogue between the two leaderships started a few days ago with a phone call’, which came from Milan to see whether Spurs would be open to a temporary deal.
Unfortunately for the Italians, ‘the main idea of Tottenham would be to monetise and the price of Tanganga is around €20m’, meaning ‘the solution of the temporary sale for six month seems difficult at the moment’.
They then somewhat echo what was said in SportMediaset on Wednesday, that ‘a more precise answer will come only after the weekend’, mostly because Antonio Conte ‘wants to keep’ the player for the game against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.
As for Tanganga in all this, ‘the player is considering but would prefer to stay in the Premier League, where he has further admirers’.
One to keep an eye on after this weekend, but if Spurs do really want €20m or nothing for their defender, then Milan will have to look elsewhere, since previous reports have suggested they won’t be ready to offer such an amount midway through the season, whether it be for him or anyone else.
