Roma general manager Tiago Pinto is set to travel to Milan ‘in the next few hours’ to try and speed up a move for Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka.
That’s according to journalist Gianluigi Longari, who says the Italian club are determined to try and wrap up a deal for the Swiss star.
Xhaka has been heavily linked with a move to Roma for weeks, with it believed Jose Mourinho has made him a priority signing for his new club.
The Switzerland midfielder is keen on the move and already has an agreement in place to make the move, but negotiations with Arsenal have not been smooth.
While they are happy to let Xhaka go, they will only do so at a price they consider acceptable, and Roma are yet to match that figure.
It means negotiations have hit the buffers over the last couple of weeks or so, with some reports that Juventus are even ready to come in and steal Xhaka away after his impressive performances a the Euros.
Roma will be keen to avoid that happening, and according to Longari, Pinto is now ‘expected’ to travel to Milan in the coming hours for talks.
On his agenda is an attempt to ‘speed up negotiations’ that are already underway, including the one with Arsenal for Xhaka.
That suggests the deal is far from over; in fact, Roma seem determined to get it done, and Pinto is now on the case to make it happen.
