According to Fotospor, Trabzonspor were targeting Leicester City’s Daniel Amartey at the end of the last transfer window.
The Turkish club signed former Chelsea and Middlesbrough midfielder John Obi Mikel this summer, but the Nigeria captain has made a terrible start to the season.
Subsequently, Fotospor claim Trabzonspor were in the market to find another midfielder before last Monday’s deadline, with Amartey an option. However, the Super Lig side were unable to reach an agreement for the Leicester City player.
Fotospor report Karadeniz Firtinasi pulled out of the deal for the Ghanaian due to the cost. The Trabzon side didn’t have much of a budget left during the final days of the window, especially after signing Daniel Sturridge on a free transfer.
Amartey seems to be out of the picture at Leicester City under Brendan Rodgers, and the 24 year old has yet to make an appearance for the Premier League side this season.
The former FC Copenhagen midfielder is under contract with Leicester City until June 2022.
