Fletcher has been linked with the Greek side in recent days, but the Sheffield Wednesday player’s salary may be an issue for the Athens club.
Sdna.gr have reported in the latest developments with regards to Panathinaikos pursuit of the Scotland international. They claim Fletcher’s €1.5m a year wage is a concern as they’ve only budgeted between €300k and €500k.
Panathinaikos are keen to bring in a forward with experience, but they may now have to looks elsewhere despite holding talks for the Sheffield Wednesday man.
Yesterday we covered reports that Panathinaikos sporting director Nikos Dabizas travelled to England to hold talks with the Championship side over the 31 year old. However, the former Newcastle United defender may have to look at other options.
