On Wednesday morning we covered claims from Turkey that Besiktas had gone off the idea of signing Georges-Kévin Nkoudou and would be moving on to other targets, including former Tottenham player Clinton Njie, instead.
At the time we suggested it may not be Besiktas pulling away, but Spurs themselves, on account of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad being short and Nkoudou being in the unusual situation of actually getting games at the Premier League club.
It was half right, it does seem like the player and English club pulled away, but only to arrange a move to AS Monaco instead.
The French principality club have been signing players with what seems to be a scattergun approach as they try to make sure they’re not relegated to Ligue 2.
Leonardo Jardim will be tasked with moulding everyone into something approaching a cohesive unit, and the Tottenham player will be part of that.
Thursday’s edition of L’Equipe reports Monaco’s Vadim Vasilyev has had to use ‘specific dialogue’ to convince Daniel Levy. That’s because Monaco are going for a straight loan and there’s no obligation, or even option, to buy.
The player will have to impress to be worth a reasonable amount in the summer, and if he does then it’s a gamble worth taking for Spurs.
