With seven goals for Manchester United so far, Edinson Cavani’s start for the club has been promising enough for fans to expect great things from him.
However, there’s already talk about where his next stop may be.
According to ESPN Argentina, Buenos Aires giants Boca Juniors want Cavani to join the club, and have already started talks for a move.
Journalist Augusto Cezar, who covers the club’s day-to-day affairs, says president Juan Roman Riquelme has spoken to the Manchester United player regarding a transfer in 2022.
It’s claimed that Boca Juniors are looking for new strikers and even have a couple of names to be signed in June this year. But Cavani, for obvious reasons, would only arrive in 2022, which is also Riquelme’s last year in presidency.
The 33-year-old’s contract with Manchester United expires at the end of the season, and with things looking fine for him at Old Trafford, it’s likely the option to extend his deal will be triggered for one more year.
Cavani’s wish to play for Boca Juniors has never been a secret and that’s what the Buenos Aires side would be counting on. The club already have former Manchester United players Carlos Tevez and Marcos Rojo in their squad.
