As the transfer window approaches, one thing is certain: Bruno de Carvalho will try to look as strong as possible.
With West Brom’s Tony Pulis just one manager showing an interest in Sporting players, Carvalho believes he’s in a position of strength.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport this week, the transfer market was obviously a subject.
Asked about a €40m offer for players such as Adrien Silva, William Carvalho and Bas Dost, the representative said: “No president can honestly say it’s not interesting. But I can say that now I do not need to sell. But if I get an indecent offer I accept it. If the offer is good and there’s player’s request, we will see.”
This quote certainly gives a message to West Brom, who currently seem to be one of the most likely clubs to take a player from Sporting this summer.
Heavily linked to William Carvalho, with even Tony Pulis admitting it, the Baggies should be aware that the player has a €45m release clause, and considering how hard Bruno de Carvalho likes to make things, Sporting will ask for that.
Sporting will need to sell this summer, regardless of what their president says, and if the first big sale doesn’t arrive quickly, the club could be forced to compromise on price… which would be good for West Brom.
