Deportivo La Coruña aren’t afraid of flirting with the chance to take Lucas Perez back to the club. After a disappointing season at Arsenal, it’s natural to see the striker linked to other destinations, and the Spanish side were always the first in line.

But things aren’t easy for them. Deportivo president Tino Fernández gave a press conference on Monday, speaking of several transfer window moves, and explained a bit more about Perez situation.

“The desire is certain, but the possibility is remote, you have to be realistic. Arsenal don’t want to find an exit and the last thing they have told us is that they count on him. If there is a chance we will present an offer, but at the moment it’s not like this,” he said (via La Voz de Galicia).

This is an interesting move from Arsenal. Perez made only 21 appearances last season, and with the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette to the squad, you would expect competition for a spot in attack to only grow.

Is Arsene Wenger preparing the squad for the case another attacker leaves? Perhaps this one is more specific to Deportivo, and Arsenal simply don’t think the Spanish club will offer enough.
