First appearing on our radars back in March, Willem Geubbels was, at the time, a target for both Chelsea and Tottenham.
The 16-year-old was then yet to make a first-team appearance for Lyon, but that has now changed after the forward came on for six minutes in a 3-3 draw against Dijon.
Well, according to RMC Sport in France, Manchester City are now one of two sides to have offered the youngster a contract ahead of him potentially signing his first professional deal with Lyon.
Pep Guardiola’s side seem to be on a mission to sign every talented young footballer in Europe these days to fill their academy, and the Ligue 1 starlet hasn’t escaped their scouting net.
However, even if Manchester City have put a deal in front of him, that doesn’t mean he’s going to sign it.
He told SFR Sport: “We’re talking to his mum and dad, because he’s a minor, but we’re also trying to get Willem and his manager to talk, which we do regularly, to see how he can integrate the team quickly.
“Training wise, he’s already with the first-team, but also to see if we can give him the possibility of featuring in a certain number of games.”
After all, his best chance of getting time on the pitch, out of those three clubs, will be at the one he’s already at, with the likes of Sergio Agüero and Gabriel Jesus blocking his path at the Etihad.
