Tottenham have been told they would need a ‘super offer’ if they wish to sign Mikkel Damsgaard from Sampdoria this summer.
Damsgaard has been heavily linked with a big-money move this summer after starring at the European Championships, where he was a key player in Denmark’s run to the semi-finals.
A whole host of European clubs are thought to be keen on him, including Tottenham, who have been named as suitors over the last few weeks.
Earlier today, we covered a report from La Repubblica that they had made their first move for the forward, with a bid that was said to be higher than €20m but not close to the €40m that Sampdoria are believed to be looking for.
The newspaper speculated that €30m would be a good place to start with negotiations, arguing that Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero’s demands were unrealistic.
It seems he has no intention of giving Tottenham a good deal, though, coming out fighting in recent comments to Il Secolo XIX.
“Damsgaard? A super offer would have to be evaluated, but Sampdoria is not a discount store,” Tuttomercatoweb report him saying.
“Why shouldn’t I keep him? I repeat, if a super offer comes in, we have to evaluate it as we all do, but I certainly won’t sell him off because nobody takes a Euro off for us when we buy.
“Sampdoria is not a discount store; that’s why I get angry when they say I exaggerate with the requests for my players.”
