During the January transfer window, Willian Jose tried his best to force Real Sociedad to sell him to Tottenham.
His agents had already agreed a deal with the Premier League club, personal terms were settled without too much trouble. However, pleasing La Real was another matter altogether.
With Tottenham predictably going in low, the La Liga side dismissed the idea of a transfer. Then Willian Jose effectively went on strike, asking not to be considered for a match.
That resulted in complete fury from Real Sociedad and their supporters, and when it finally became clear the Tottenham move was off, the Brazilian had to grovel to be accepted again.
AS report the player’s future remains uncertain, and there’s a lack of trust. He wants to play in European football, so there’s a feeling he could push for a transfer again should Tottenham return or another club show up.
Therefore, Real Sociedad are preparing for a potential exit and have contacted Fernando Llorente. The 35 year old has a contract with Napoli lasting until June 2021, but is available this summer.
That signing would give them some comfort if Willian Jose kicks and screams for a transfer again.
