Monday’s edition of AS has Antonio Rudiger across the front cover and once again goes over interest from Real Madrid.
The Chelsea defender has a contract expiring at the end of the season, and with no renewal yet agreed and signed with the Blues, he could be leaving Stamford Bridge at the end of June.
Rudiger is free to talk to other clubs from January onwards, although it seems clear that conversations have been going on since long before that date.
AS report Real Madrid are ‘preparing a final offensive’ to sign Rudiger, and they intend to move soon so they can ‘scare off’ the competition and kill chances of Chelsea getting themselves a renewal.
Despite all of that, and despite a repeated insistence Rudiger would quite fancy the move to Madrid, it’ made clear that neither the defender or Carlo Ancelotti’s side have made their ‘final decision’ on what happens from here.
Despite Rudiger being on AS’s front page, there’s not a great deal of advance in their story, and Madrid don’t seem any closer than they were weeks ago.
