In the past few days, reports from the Italian media have been claiming there’s strong interest from Newcastle United in Atalanta midfielder Ederson.

It was even claimed that the Magpies could be about to make a ‘pharaonic offer’ for his signing, reaching close to €40m to guarantee his transfer.

Now as outlet Tutto Atalanta features a story showing how the Serie A side see the situation, they insist they’re actually very calm about it.

The big reason for that is the Italian club would spent €21.4m to sign Ederson from Salernitana last year, and they’re enjoying what he’s been offering them.

So even though clubs such as Newcastle have been making those ‘first approaches’, they won’t be too upset to accept any ‘monstrous offers’ that are ‘impossible to refuse’.

The report claims there are ‘no major alarm bells’ at the Serie A side for now, and a January sale is not something so clear at this stage.

So even though Newcastle are said to be ‘moving’, we still need to see if they’ll be able to impress Atalanta with a major offer. It’s said that for less than €40m, the Italian club won’t even open negotiations.
