VfL Wolfsburg are ready to let Wout Weghorst leave this month amid reports of an offer from Burnley.
That’s according to Kicker, who say the Bundesliga side would be more than happy to get rid of the Dutchman if the Clarets want him.
Burnley need to sign a new striker before the end of the transfer window after electing to sell Chris Wood to Newcastle earlier this month.
Reports in England have stated they’re keen on Weghorst, and a bid has been made, with it even stated that Sean Dyche’s side are confident they can get their man.
Kicker cover that today and state that a deal is more than possible as Wolfsburg are ‘more than prepared to let the Dutchman leave’.
They explain that Wolfsburg see him more as an ‘internal disruptive factor’ than as a goalscorer at the moment and so are happy to do a deal if Burnley want it.
They would need a replacement but already signed Lukas Nmecha in the summer, and he is expected back from an ankle injury at some point next month.
There is no mention of an asking price or anything of that nature yet, just that the German side are more than willing to let Weghorst go.
That should be a positive for Burnley, although the newspaper makes it clear that the fact the striker follows Burnley on Instagram is not an indication of a move to Turf Moor.
That’s because the 29-year-old follows a host of clubs in the Premier League, having been determined to secure a move there for some time and even swapped to ‘renowned’ agents Sports360 agency in an attempt to make it happen.
It could now be on the cards, with reports in England stating Burnley are keen and their counterparts in Germany making it clear there is a deal there to be done.
