On Thursday evening, we covered claims that Ashley Young’s agent would be in Milan on Friday, for further talks with Inter.
Given it’s been widely reported the defender already has an agreement in place with the Serie A club, on the basis on an 18 month contract (Inter improved on their initial 6 month offering), the meetings with Inter could be about trying to get a fee from them for Manchester United.
Gazzetta dello Sport report Young will be ‘coming soon’ to Milan. There’s confidence that ‘in a few more days’ a January move can be agreed and club director Giuseppe Marotta is said to be ‘very close’ to getting things done.
Young is said to have promised himself to Inter and has stuck to his word by refusing a Manchester United renewal offer.
Once again it’s stated United recalling Cameron Borthwick-Jackson is a sign of an impending Young exit, however, the player’s loan at Tranmere hadn’t been going well so that’s hard to believe.
All that’s left to agree is the ‘compensation’ payable to the Premier League club, although it’s not thought that’s going to be a problem, despite it being reportedly previously that Inter don’t want to pay anything at all.
Meanwhile, Corriere dello Sport report Young has decided to ‘push personally’ for a winter move, and it’s again stated he’s told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he doesn’t want to be considered for selection.
The manager held a press conference on Friday morning and praised the player’s professionalism, so that claim may be questionable too.
Corriere say Inter could be prepared to pay ‘minimal’ compensation to Manchester United.
