There’s been contradicting claims on how interested West Ham are in Gabigol, and whether they’re interested at all, but the rumour just won’t go away.

In the past 24 hours there’s been reports again of a Hammers offer, which is based on an 18 month loan. Inter Milan want a sale, and preferably all the money in one go, because they need funds for their own signings this month.

Should the Hammers make a reasonable offer then they stand a chance of success, and there’s only Flamengo also in the picture right now.

Gabigol played for the Brazilian side on loan last year, enjoying great success with them and winning the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, Campeonato Carioca and, most importantly, the Copa Libertadores.

He was named South American Footballer of the Year for 2019, was top scorer in the Copa Libertadores, and picked up the Bola de Ouro award for the best player in the Brazilian championship.

Should he move to West Ham, he won’t be getting anything comparable, according to Brazil legend Zico. Quoted by FCInterNews, he explained: “For the moment the club is living, it would be preferable to stay in Flamengo rather than go to West Ham, with all due respect.

“In London he could not aspire to anything because it is a team that will hardly get results. If they asked me to leave Flamengo for Barcelona, Real Madrid or Manchester, this would be another matter.”
