There’s been a lot written about Francois Kamano since the start of the season, as the Bordeaux forward has stepped into Malcom’s shoes as the most important player in the Ligue 1 team.

Scoring seven goals in his first 13 league games, the 22-year-old Guinea international is understandably attracting attention from a number of Premier League clubs, who have scouted him recently, including Southampton.

The Saints are the team mentioned in the latest report regarding the Bordeaux starlet’s future, which comes soon after a change of ownership at the French club.

Interviewed on RMC Sport, the new owner, Joe DeGraso, was asked whether or not the club would be listening to offers for Kamano over the January window, and his answer was very clear.

He said: “At the moment, we don’t have any intention of sell this player. He’s a perfectly formidable player, an exceptional sportsman. The fans appreciate him, know him. We count on this player and we are going to keep him”.

Having been forced to sell Malcom to Barcelona last year as the Brazilian made it clear he wanted a new challenge, Bordeaux will do well to keep hold of Kamano as long as possible.

RMC Sport state a number of Premier League clubs, and ‘notably Southampton’, as those putting pressure on the Ligue 1 club.

The Saints’ potential interest in the player can be traced as far back as this time last year when they sent scouts to watch Bordeaux against Marseille.
