Following the exit of Ilkay Gündogan on a free to Barcelona in the summer, Manchester City needed a replacement and moved for Mateo Kovacic.

At Chelsea at the time, the Croatian midfielder was bought for €29m, but hasn’t exactly played all that much, with just 567 minutes in the Premier League spread over 10 appearances.

That’s why there are a few clubs sniffing around for a January opportunity, and TV100 in Turkey claim Galatasaray are one of them.

Disappointed with the performances of Tanguy Ndombele, the club are looking for another midfielder to help them this season after Okan Buruk, their manager, ‘lost his patience’ with the Frenchman.

He then asked those above him to go after Kovacic, with Erden Timur starting the proceedings to try and get something done.

It’s said the Turkish side’s vice-president ‘rolled up his sleeves’ to try and grant that request, and a ‘loan formula will be proposed’ to Manchester City for their midfielder.

Whether that will be accepted by Pep Guardiola and co. remains to be seen, but considering there is also a chance offers roll in for Kalvin Phillips, it could be a case of one or the other leaving the Etihad in January.
