Judging by the news over the past few days, it isn’t surprising to see a negative article about Chelsea’s talks with Milan for the loan of Tiemoué Bakayoko.
What looked like a deal close to completion is now a bit further away from that due to the arrival of Sandro Tonali, and Corriere dello Sport are reporting on Tuesday the Serie A side have ‘frozen negotiations’ for the Frenchman.
However, let’s make it clear, and the Italian newspaper do just that, ’it’s not a renunciation of the deal, but a slow down after weeks of talks with Chelsea’.
Tonali’s signing means their desperation for a new midfielder has lessened, and Milan are using that to lower the final price of the loan with a view to buy deal.
One of those would be to ‘pay the €30m in two years’, with the other being to ‘lower the cash to €20-25m and insert a series of bonuses to meet the demands of the Londoners’.
While there is a distance between the two sides, Corriere don’t see it as ‘unbridgeable’, but for now, Milan have ‘decided to wait and not struggle to satisfy Chelsea’s request’.
The figures simply ‘don’t coincide at the moment, and the slow down has brought other profiles closer to Milan’.
Those are Boubakary Soumaré, currently at Lille, and the other is Benfica’s Florentino Luís.
