In the space of a month, Edimilson Fernandes, currently loaned from West Ham, has convinced Fiorentina he’s worth buying permanently.
This is what La Nazione are reporting on Tuesday, claiming Stefano Pioli is fully convinced about the Switzerland international, working hard to help him improve with the Serie A side.
Just a month ago, Gazzetta dello Sport believed it would be ‘difficult’ for Fiorentina to make Fernandes’ loan a permanent transfer after it was announced the Italians would be signing Hamed Junior Traoré from Empoli.
However, a couple of goals (and an unfortunate red card) later, and the West Ham midfielder has convinced everyone, most recently scoring the equaliser in a 4-1 away win against SPAL.
La Nazione state Fernandes ‘should be bought’ come the end of the season, a move which will require Fiorentina to pay the Hammers around €7m.
The board are onboard and so is Pioli.
As for Fernandes, he recently stated it was ‘too soon’ to think about the future, but considering how well things are going, we can’t see him saying no to a longer stay in Florence going forward should the option be given to him.
